Introduction to Meditation

Zazen, our meditation practice, is the core discipline of Zen. It is about developing an alert and calm presence with whatever arises moment by moment. Participants in this course will receive guidance for establishing a regular meditation practice. We will address the basics of posture, breath and mental activity and the issues that arise for participants along the way. Use of a chair will be possible. We will consider the critical role of meditation along with other components of the spiritual path. Each class meeting will include instruction, discussion and zazen. Participants able to set aside 10 – 30 minutes each day, or several days each week, for meditation will benefit most from this class.
