This course will provide an introduction to the historical development of the great body of Buddhist thought and practice known as the Mahayana or “Great Vehicle.”

Mahayana is the root of Clouds in Water’s teaching heritage. We will review basic teachings that distinguish the Mahayana. Rather than historical detail of the multi-faceted and somewhat amorphous body of teachers and teaching that this name encompasses, the course will emphasize major lessons for us including the Bodhisattva Path ideal.

The course,  is intended to 1) deepen our shared spiritual path with further insight into our fundamental teaching and 2) give participants a useful framework for further study of the historical development of our practice.
