Sunday dharma talk by Kyoku Tracy Walen, August 27, 2017
It’s a rare person, says Kyoku, who comes into the world with a fully developed heart-mind. For the rest of us loving kindness takes practice, practice, practice, every day. If we cultivate positive thinking in ourselves first, we can spread true happiness in the world. Kyoku suggests that we start by getting into a friendly, calm state of mind when we meditate. Our mantra can be “May I be well and happy.” Starting with ourselves, we accept ourselves fully, including our faults. Then by doing this, we can be kind to others, and they in turn will carry that kindness to the rest of the world.
