Gatha Workshop

Registration closes Apr 24

Please join us for a morning of practice. We will learn some of the traditional Gathas of the Soto school, as well as write some of our own. Together with zazen and a short chanting service, this morning will be filled with ease and joy.

Every activity, every action, is a new and singular opportunity for opening up. When we wake up, when we shower, mowing the lawn, seeing a forest or roadkill, even using the bathroom are all moments of practice. A traditional Zen practice for this is using short verses to bring our mindfulness fully into our activity. These verses, or prayers, are called Gathas. Instructions for connecting via Zoom will be provided before the workshop.
