Thursday, September 17, 2020, 7:00 pm

with Myoshin Diane Benjamin
September 17 – October 8 • 7:00 – 8:30 pm

This four-session class will be based on three classic, short Zen texts – Shih T’ou’s Song of the Grass Roof Hermitage, Dogen’s Eihei Koso Hotsuganmon, and Hakuin’s Song of Zazen – along with contemporary poems from Katagiri Roshi, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Zenju Earthlyn Manuel. We will learn more about the authors and context of these texts, and explore how to use them to support our everyday life, including contemplation, recitation, memorization, and discussion. This class is open to anyone looking for inspiration for their daily home practice, and anyone seeking spiritual support during the difficult times in which we find ourselves.

• Four Thursdays: September 17, September 24, October 1, and October 8, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Pay what you can.

Myoshin Diane Benjamin is a lay dharma teacher at Clouds in Water. She has been practicing Zen for over 20 years, and has taught mindfulness, meditation, and Buddhist studies to children of all ages, their parents, and other adults. She lives in Minneapolis with her wife and teenage daughter.
