Teen Practice – Oct 3-Apr 17

Kalyāṇa-mittatā: Admirable Friendship Practice
With Keika Karin San Juan (she/they/siya) and Sokyo Chee Xiong
October 3, 2021 – April 17, 2022
In-person and on Zoom

As with almost all of our programs currently, Teen Practice is “pay what you can, minimum $5.” We are in the process of determining the actual cost of providing this service, to help you as you consider what to give. While the cost per child will depend on how many children participate, we are currently estimating a cost per child of $700 – $1,300. Please keep in mind that we are committed to providing youth practice and consider it to be something that our whole community needs to support. The cost does not only fall on the parents and families. Please pay the amount that feels accessible and appropriate for you.

Clouds in Water requires face covering for all public gatherings in our building. Six feet distance will be maintained. Vaccinations required.

Inspired by the Buddhist Pali tradition and concept Kalyāṇa-mittatā “admirable friendships”, Teen Practice will explore the intersections of American Buddhist origins and communities, art, and the environment. We will enter into each theme guided by the curriculum (developed by Flying Fish Murphy and Kikan Howard) on interconnectedness, impermanence, and the Four Divine Abodes. Below are proposed dates for the Teen Practice.

All sessions are from 12:00-1:30pm CT OR 3:30-5:00pm CT on Sundays, meet at Clouds in Water Zen Center,
unless other arrangements to meet off-sit are made. A survey will be taken regarding the time options.
