October 2-Day Sesshin – What is Buddha?
With Sosan Flynn
Oct 8, 7pm – Oct. 10, 6pm CT
In-person and on Zoom
Pay what you can, minimum $5
Vaccination required for In-Person sesshin participation. Clouds in Water requires face covering for all gatherings in our building. Six feet distance will be maintained. In-person sesshin registration will be capped at 15 participants.
Sesshin, which means “collecting the heart/mind”, provides a rare chance to step into a sanctuary of stillness, to close the door for a little while on the cacophony, and to appreciate the freedom and spaciousness of life in the present. Whether you are a beginner or experienced practitioner, we hope you will consider joining this wonderful practice.
What is Buddha? What is the Path? Using ancient stories and Sosan’s own teaching, we will embody these questions for our own lives. Sitting in silence, we may consider who we are and where we are going.
Note: for those who are interested, these questions are from cases 18 and 19 in the Gateless Barrier by Mumon. Commentary can be found in Guo Gu’s Passing Through the Gateless Barrier, as well as other translations/commentaries. You do not need to read or be familiar with the koans before the sesshin.
Schedule and Zoom link will be sent to participants before the event.
At check-out, you will be prompted to select Zoom or In-person participation. In-person participation is first-come, first-served. All other registrations will be for Zoom participation.
Classes and sesshin fees are pay-what-you-can. To help cover administrative costs and activate online registration, the minimum amount we ask is $5.00
When considering what to pay Clouds in Water for this sesshin, please know that the value of this offering is estimated to be $300
Online registration ends 10/6/2021
If you wish to register after 10/6/2021 please contact the ino (sesshin coordinator) directly at email@example.com. Please note that you may not get an immediate response.
