What is council practice? At Clouds in Water Zen Center, this tradition was introduced by Wendy Egyoku Roshi of Zen Center of Los Angeles in 2005. It was used by the Clouds community for important decisions, such as choosing the new guiding teacher in 2006, and for a way of being together. It was further developed with the help of Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea in 2008. The council process provides a structure that fosters connections with each other. It provides a place for the shadows to be uncovered and addressed in a supportive environment. It is a creative, dynamic process, geared to develop an informed, active, and mature membership. Council practice continues to be used at Clouds in Water Zen Center to make decisions about our way forward. By participating in this training you will be able to share in this process of decision making at Clouds in Water and share your valuable insight with the community at future council meetings.
