Spring Practice Period – March 5
Spring Practice Period: Understanding Your Life Through the Practice of Zen
with Sosan Theresa Flynn
Thursdays, March 9 – 30, 7 – 8:30 pm
(plus opening and closing ceremonies Sundays March 5 and April 2, 9 – 10:30 am)
The beautiful teachings and practices of Soto Zen Buddhism can help us live our lives with joy, ease, creativity, and openness.
In this four-week practice period, we will look deeply into the Zen forms and rituals, and find ways to make them our own.
We’ll practice stillness and movement (sitting, walking bowing), the full body of sounds (using our voices, chanting, bells, drums), daily activity (the cycles of work and rest), and giving/receiving (meal rituals, food offerings, dana).
Practice period formally begins with an opening ritual on Sunday, March 5, 9 – 10:30 am.
The practice period class meets Thursdays, 7 – 8:30 pm March 9 – 30.
The closing ritual is on Sunday, April 2, 9 – 10:30 am, when we’ll celebrate Buddha’s Birthday together with the community.
Link information for Zoom participants will be emailed before the Practice Period.

“We know in our hearts that there is a different way to be, a different way to live. Our generosity with one another is indeed resistance to the greed and fear that oppresses us. We provide for one another out of love for each other and love for ourselves. When we give, we acknowledge that all beings want to be happy.”
