Ritual of Atonement – May 6

Ritual of Atonement Workshop:
On Becoming a Joyful Anti-Racist White-bodied Buddhist Practitioner
With Sosan Theresa Flynn
Saturday, May 6, 9 am – 1 pm
IN PERSON ONLY
Ritual Atonement is a powerful way to release ourselves from karmic bonds that prevent us from taking positive, joyful action. In this half-day workshop, we’ll take steps to engage in our practice with joy. This includes grounding our awareness in our bodies, acknowledging harm that we have perpetrated against BIPOC through our action or inaction, learning to forgive ourselves, atoning for the harm we caused through a shared ritual, setting intentions for going forward, and celebrating together with a meal. In this way, we will clear a path for true joy and positive anti-racist actions to follow. We invite white-bodied practitioners to attend this workshop as a practice of dana – something powerful that you can give to yourself, the community and the world in order to move towards true equity. For the ritual itself, you will be invited to make it your own, and participate in a way that feels congruent to you.

“We know in our hearts that there is a different way to be, a different way to live. Our generosity with one another is indeed resistance to the greed and fear that oppresses us. We provide for one another out of love for each other and love for ourselves. When we give, we acknowledge that all beings want to be happy.”
