January 29

We Make MN Rally at the MN State Capitol Rotunda–to Fund our Future

Time 3-5pm

Members of Clouds in Water will be joining with the We Make MN coalition of grassroots organizations such as ISAIAH and Move MN, along with unions including SEIU to rally at the Capitol. Our presence, energy and speeches will let elected officials know that there are large numbers of us who believe in building a state where all Minnesotans, no matter our zip code, have what we need to thrive: strong public schools, affordable healthcare, good jobs, and safe communities. And this means having adequate funding for the kinds of programs that will move us toward making this vision a reality.

Given the upcoming change in the federal government, there are likely going to be cuts to state funding of critical programs such as Head Start, subsidies for medical assistance, Minnesota care and insurance purchased on the exchange, housing assistance, and programs to reduce carbon emissions. At the state level, there is also going to be increased pressure to cut taxes. This could lead to cuts to essential state funded programs that impact the lives of so many Minnesotans.  Our elected leaders need to hear our voices!

Our plan is to meet at Clouds around 2:30 and carpool over to the capitol together!
